Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department and Nike Enter Into Sponsorship Agreement
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department and Nike, Inc., in association with Billings Sports, have reached a sponsorship agreement that will supply all of the Owls’ 19 intercollegiate programs with athletic uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment. Director of Athletics Patricia D. Nicol made the announcement earlier today.

Laura Brustolon Named Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award Winner
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.), who recently completed her senior season as a member of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s cross country/track and field teams, has been named as the winner of the inaugural Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award. Brustolon, who also claimed the inaugural Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award back in the fall, was the only female in the conference to earn this accolade twice during the 2009-10 academic year.

SCSU Athletic Department Places 153 Student-Athletes On Spring 2010 Commissioner’s Honor Roll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A total of 153 student-athletes from Southern Connecticut State University have been named to the Spring, 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the Spring, 2010 semester. Three Owls Honored With Selection To Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seniors Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) and Letecia Taylor (Plainfield, N.J.), along with sophomore Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s outdoor track and field team, have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team.

SCSU Athletic Department Concludes Year Ranked No. 42 In Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department has concluded the 2009-10 academic year ranked No. 42 out of more than 300 eligible Division II institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup rankings. The Owls finished among the top-20 percent in the standings for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s finish also marked the third time in the last four years that the Owls have placed in the top-15 percent in the standings.

Brustolon, Taylor Earn Academic All-District Honors From CoSIDA
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seniors Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) and Letecia Taylor (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s cross country/track and field program have been named to the Academic All-District 1 team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Brustolon, biology major with a 3.85 grade point average, was named to the First-Team. Taylor, an accounting major with a 3.39 grade point average, was tabbed for the Second-Team. Brustolon advances to the national ballot and is eligible for Academic All-America honors.
