NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department and Nike, Inc., in association with Billings Sports, have reached a sponsorship agreement that will supply all of the Owls’ 19 intercollegiate programs with athletic uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment. Director of Athletics Patricia D. Nicol made the announcement earlier today.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University pitcher Ryan Yerina (Trumbull, Conn.), who recently completed his sophomore season with the Owls, has been named a Valley League All-Star. Yerina is pitching for the Rockbridge (Va.) Rapids this summer. The game will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A total of 153 student-athletes from Southern Connecticut State University have been named to the Spring, 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the Spring, 2010 semester. This semester’s mark is the highest-figure in department history.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University senior second baseman Greg Malen (Stamford, Conn.) has been tabbed for the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball All-Academic Team. This accolade follows up on Malen’s selection as a First-Team Academic All-District honoree by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last month.
