Gymnastics
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Sarah Darst (Tampa, Fla.) of the gymnastics team and freshman Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for January.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – More than 30 student-athletes, coaches and staff members from eight different programs were on hand on Sunday to assist with the campus-wide ‘Friends of Rudolph’ event. This initiative, which runs in conjunction with the New Haven Police Department, brings more than 1,000 area youngsters to campus for a day filled with fun, games, and the opportunity to meet Santa Claus. Members of the baseball, field hockey, football, men’s basketball, volleyball, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and women’s track and field teams participated in the event. View Event Photo Gallery

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University student-athletes made their final visit of the fall semester to the Beecher School in New Haven on Tuesday as part of an interactive program with fourth grade students at the school. Members of the field hockey, men’s soccer and volleyball teams took part in today’s session, which featured language arts and math work in small groups. The student-athletes and Beecher students capped off a strong semester of work with a pizza party.

Members of the field hockey, softball, men’s soccer, volleyball and women’s track and field teams took part in today’s session, which featured language arts work on a one-on-one basis. The Owls continue to work with the youngsters in preparation for testing that will take place during the spring semester.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following a strong junior season that already produced All-Conference laurels, it was announced on Monday morning that Southern Connecticut State University junior Dieny Charlot (Deep River, Conn.) has been named an ECAC All-Star. Eleven student-athletes from five different institutions were named to this year’s team. Charlot finished the year with 13 points (five goals, three assists).

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Members of the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams spent time earlier this week baking homemade pies that went to the Springfield (Mass.) Rescue Mission. The pies are going to be distributed this week in conjunction with the Thanksgiving holiday.
