Men’s Soccer Team Tabbed For Fourth Place In 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Poll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men’s soccer team has been selected fourth in the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Coaches’ preseason poll. The Owls are coming off a successful 2009 season in which they qualified for the NCAA Tournament, reached the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament final and finished with a 14-5-2 mark. The Owls will look to secure the 32nd NCAA tournament berth in school history this fall. The season opener will be Sept. 2 against Felician College at the University of Bridgeport Tournament.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University men’s soccer coach Tom Lang has announced the team’s 2010 schedule. The Owls are coming off a successful season in which they qualified for the NCAA Tournament, reached the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament final and finished with a 14-5-2 mark. Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department and Nike Enter Into Sponsorship Agreement
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department and Nike, Inc., in association with Billings Sports, have reached a sponsorship agreement that will supply all of the Owls’ 19 intercollegiate programs with athletic uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment. Director of Athletics Patricia D. Nicol made the announcement earlier today.

SCSU Athletic Department Places 153 Student-Athletes On Spring 2010 Commissioner’s Honor Roll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A total of 153 student-athletes from Southern Connecticut State University have been named to the Spring, 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the Spring, 2010 semester. SCSU Athletic Department Concludes Year Ranked No. 42 In Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department has concluded the 2009-10 academic year ranked No. 42 out of more than 300 eligible Division II institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup rankings. The Owls finished among the top-20 percent in the standings for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s finish also marked the third time in the last four years that the Owls have placed in the top-15 percent in the standings.

Athletic Department Hosts Senior Awards Event
The Southern Connecticut State University athletic department hosted its annual Senior Awards Event on Wednesday night at the Michael J. Adanti Student Center. More than 70 senior student-athletes were recognized for contributions to their respective programs. In addition, several special awards were handed out. The field hockey team was awarded the Tim Greer Insurance Agency, Inc. Community Service Cup. The volleyball squad was recognized as the winner of the Academic Team of Champions Award, given annually to the team with the highest team cumulative grade point average. Sarah Darst of the gymnastics team was named as the Female Scholar-Athlete Award winner, while Greg Malen of the baseball team was the Male Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
