NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department and Sprint have announced a partnership for the 2010 calendar year. Sprint will serve as a proud supporter of Owls’ athletics, as well as the Annual Owl Golf Classic. This year’s golf outing will take place on May 24 at the Lake of Isles South (Private) Course at Foxwoods Resort and Casino.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Former Southern Connecticut State University standout John Ball has signed with the Ohio Vortex of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro), announced on Wednesday by the organization’s front office. Ball, one of the elite players in the indoor game, has over 13 years of professional experience.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Children at the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital will receive some special holiday cheer courtesy of Southern Connecticut State University student-athletes once again this year. The Owls’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee joined together with all 19 intercollegiate programs to collect funds and purchase toys for youngsters at the facility. The toys will be distributed during the holiday season.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four members of the Southern Connecticut State University men’s soccer team have earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) laurels for the 2009 season, announced on Monday by the league office. Sophomore Germain Delage (Paris, France) was selected to the NSCAA First Team, sophomores Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) and Harry Appiah (Pawtucket, R.I.) were named to the NSCAA Second Team, while senior Sean O’Brien (Guilford, Conn.) and junior Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) collected NSCAA Third Team honors. NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University student-athletes made their final visit of the fall semester to the Beecher School in New Haven on Tuesday as part of an interactive program with fourth grade students at the school. Members of the field hockey, men’s soccer and volleyball teams took part in today’s session, which featured language arts and math work in small groups. The student-athletes and Beecher students capped off a strong semester of work with a pizza party.

The event featured reading, grammar and vocabulary review in both small and large group sessions.
