NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Megan Caporossi (Northford, Conn.) of the softball team and senior Richard Jackson (New Rochelle, N.Y.) of the men’s track and field team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for May.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team received votes in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll of 2010. The Owls finished the season with a 42-13 mark and set a new program single-season record for wins. SCSU also won its first Northeast-10 Conference Tournament title and reached the NCAA Tournament East Regional finals.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five members of the Southern Connecticut State University softball team – seniors Megan Caporossi (Northford, Conn.), Kerry Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), Khristle Lee (Aztec, N.M.) and freshmen Brittany Bucko (Wallington, NJ.) and Kristin Whitley (North Andover, Mass.) – have been recognized with All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Owls’ five selections were the most from any school in the region.

Junior Robin Priest (Cheshire, Conn.), a junior infielder on the Southern Connecticut State University softball team, was profiled in this week's edition of the Cheshire Herald. Priest helped the Owls to a program-record 42 wins this spring along with the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament title. Priest is also a member of the Owls' volleyball squad. NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University senior catcher Khristle Lee (Aztec, N.M.) has been selected to the Daktronics All-East Region First-Team following a vote of the region’s Sports Information Directors. Lee helped lead the Owls to their finest season in program history, a 42-win campaign that included a Northeast-10 Conference Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament East Regional finals.

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team’s 2010 season came to a close on Sunday afternoon, as the Owls dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 10 nationally ranked New Haven on the final day of the NCAA East Region Softball Tournament at the University of New Haven. With the loss, SCSU concluded its strongest campaign in program history with a 42-13 overall mark. Box Score
