Athletes of the Month
Men's Swimming
Prue closed his first season with the Owls in fine fashion, as he took home All-America honors in two events at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.45 and also placed 10th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.55.
Women's Swimming
Frost continued to build her résumé as she won four national championships in as many days in the month of March and set three NCAA Division II records at the championships.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Keyed by first-place finishes in three of four events, as well as the All-Around, the Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics team moved to 13-3 on the year with a sweep of Ithaca College and Rhode Island College on Sunday. The Owls totaled a 188.600, nearly three points better than Ithaca’s 185.925. Third place RIC tallied a 170.400.

In addition, the Owls also set a new program record for a team score on the vault. SCSU posted a 47.2, which was just ahead of the old mark of 47.05, set at the 1999 USA Nationals.

Freshman Justine Basley (Danielson, Conn.) claimed the All-Around with a score of 37.950. She also captured the vault with a mark of 9.55 and finished second on the beam with a 9.475.

Other individual event winners included senior Erika Pysh (Plainville, Conn.) and sophomore Taylor Murray (Islip, N.Y.). Pysh took the floor exercise with a 9.8, while Murray led the field on the beam with a 9.55.

In addition, Sarah Darst (Tampa, Fla.) and Briana DiPinto (Woburn, Mass.) each tallied a second place finish for the Owls. Darst scored a 9.6 on the bar, while DiPinto registered a 9.525 on the vault.

DiPinto (floor exercise) and Murray (bars) also recorded one third place finish.

The Owls are back in action Sunday for a four-team competition at SUNY-Brockport. In addition to those two clubs, Ithaca and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will also take part in that meet.
