NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University men’s cross country coach Jack Maloney has announced that seniors Jacob Edwards (North Stonington, Conn.) and Justin MacGregor (Derby, Conn.) will serve as team captains for the Owls this fall.
Edwards earned numerous athletic and academic accolades during the 2007 season. He was named both All-Region and All-Conference for his athletic prowess. In addition, Edwards was tabbed for the Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country All-Academic Team.
During the year, he was also selected as the Northeast-10 Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Sept. 23) and was tabbed as the SCSU Male Athlete of the Month for September.
MacGregor provided depth to a young Owls’ club last season. Among the individual highlights during the year included a seventh-place finish at the St. John’s University Fall Festival. MacGregor will once again be looked upon to provide leadership for this year’s squad.
The men’s cross country team opens the 2008 season on Sept. 13 at the Fairfield Invitational.
