NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Kristen Frost (Madison, Conn.) of the women’s swimming and diving team and John Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) of the football team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for October. Frost helped the Owls jump out to a strong start to the 2008-09 season, while Wiechman has been instrumental in his team’s run towards the post-season.

Men’s Cross Country Ranked No. 3 in USTFCCCA Regional Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men’s cross country team maintains their No. 3 ranking in the East Regional, as voted upon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
UMass Lowell and Stonehill are the only teams that rank above the Owls.
The team lost just two members to graduation and returns several talented performers, including All-Region and All-Conference picks senior Jacob Edwards (North Stonington, Conn.), junior Chris Croff (Lisbon, Conn.) and sophomore Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.).
The Owls open the 2008 season on Sept. 13 at the Fairfield Invitational in Fairfield, Conn.
