Athletes of the Month
Women's Swimming
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Kristen Frost (Madison, Conn.) of the women’s swimming and diving team and John Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) of the football team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for October. Frost helped the Owls jump out to a strong start to the 2008-09 season, while Wiechman has been instrumental in his team’s run towards the post-season.

The Owls return to action on Saturday in the Fairfield University Invitational.
Women’s Cross Country Ranked No. 4 in USTFCCCA Regional Poll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women’s cross country team ranks fourth in the East Regional poll, as voted upon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Stonehill, Bentley and UMass Lowell are the only teams that rank above the Owls.

SCSU fell one spot from their No. 3 preseason ranking after finishing 12th on Saturday in the Trinity College Invitational. Junior Kasey Sullivan (Southbury, Conn.) paced the Owls with a 20th place finish in the 175 runner field.

The Owls return to action on Saturday, September 13 at the Fairfield University Invitational in Fairfield, Conn.
