Greg Tuba Collects All-New England Honors
11/19/2009 5:05:51 PM
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University senior offensive lineman Greg Tuba (Monroe, Conn.) has been recognized with All-New England honors from the New England Football Writers. He will be honored at the organization’s banquet on Thursday, December 10 at Casa di Fior in Wilmington, Mass.
Tuba was the anchor of the Owls’ offensive line this year and was named the Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference. A nominee for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman by the Manheim Touchdown Club, he helped lead an offense that ranked first in the league in red zone efficiency and third down conversions, and second in the NE-10 in scoring offense (34.3 ppg), rushing offense and total offense. Three of the top eight rushers in the Northeast-10 followed the lead of Tuba and his fellow linemen this year.
In closing the year with a 6-4 mark and a share of the Northeast-10 title, the Owls also registered their ninth straight winning season and 16th straight year with a record at or above .500. The club had also reached the NCAA Playoffs in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
