Box Score

For the second consecutive game freshman Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men’s basketball team scored 20 points, however the Owls fell short in the second game of the Purple Knight Classic on Saturday evening. Bridgeport defeated Southern by the final score of 82-59, handing the Owls their fourth loss of the season.

The Purple Knights raced out to a 22-8 run just nine minutes into the game and never looked back. Bridgeport shot a blistering 49 percent from the field, including 40 percent from behind the arc. Despite shooting a season-high 42 percent from the floor, Southern couldn’t muster enough of an offensive attack to get back into the game.

Carberry finished with 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting and knocked down 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Clyde Chapman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chimed in with 13 points and six rebounds, while Kieran Ramsey (North Hollywood, Calif.) poured in 10 points of his own.

The Owls return to action on Nov. 24 with a home contest against Pace University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Moore Field House.
