NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Sarah Darst (Tampa, Fla.) of the gymnastics team and freshman Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for January.

Smith Earns Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Allyson Smith (East Hampton, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s basketball team has been selected to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts on the court, announced on Monday by the conference office. Smith led the offensive attack this week for the Owls, averaging 18 points per game in two road victories.

Smith finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, 4-of-4 from behind the arc, hauled in three rebounds and dished out six assists in a 68-64 win at Le Moyne on Wednesday. On Saturday, Smith collected a team-high 18 points, went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line and hauled in five rebounds in a 76-71 win over the Eagles of Post University.

The Owls are back in action on Nov. 24 for a home contest against Pace University. Southern will take on the Setters at 5:30 p.m. in Moore Field House.
