SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Jason Villagomez (Stamford, Conn.) scored a goal, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team was edged by No. 10 nationally ranked LeMoyne in the finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament on Saturday, 2-1. The Owls moved to 14-5-1 on the season with the result and will now wait to see if they have earned the 31st NCAA Tournament bid in program history.

After a scoreless first half, the host Dolphins scored twice in 55 seconds early in the second half. The goals came courtesy of Bryce Martin and Angelo Reina.

Southern Connecticut continued to challenge LeMoyne and finally cashed in with 1:19 to go in regulation when Villagomez scored from eight yards out.

The Owls maintained the pressure in the waning seconds. Their final chance came courtesy of a bid from Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) that was stopped by Dolphins’ keeper Steve White.

Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) made two saves in the match for the Owls.
