EWING, N.J. – Four members of the Southern Connecticut University men’s swimming and diving team – sophomores Austin Mizzell (Bristol, Conn.), Miguel Nesrala (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Matthew Sorena (Brookfield, Conn.) and freshman Alan Dickey (Waterbury, Conn.) – each had a hand in a pair of wins for the Owls in their 164.5-121.5 loss to The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. 

Dickey was the team’s lone dual event individual winner, as he captured first place in both the one-meter (293.65) and three-meter (365.4) events. 

Sorena won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 9:59.65. Mizzell claimed the 200 breaststroke in 2:08.65. Nesrala won the 100 freestyle in 47.51. 

Sorena, Mizzell, Nesrala and Thomas Hardy (Massapequa, N.Y.) teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:22.68. 

Southern Connecticut returns to action on Nov. 21 for a road meet at Yale.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) of the women’s indoor track and field team and senior Austin Mizzell (Bristol, Conn.) of the men’s swimming and diving team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University/Comcast Athletes of the Month for December.
