Women's Cross Country Team Announces 2009 Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University women’s cross country coach Chris Covert has announced the team’s 2009 schedule. The Owls will take part in four competitions leading up to the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which will take place on Oct. 24. The year kicks off on Sept. 12 with the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational in New Britain. Last season, the Owls peaked as high as No. 3 in the region.

After the opener at CCSU, the Owls will then travel to Waterford for the Connecticut College Invitational on Sept. 26.

The month of October will feature three competitions for the Owls. The first is the New England Championships, which will be held in Boston on Oct. 10. The Owls will also compete at the St. John’s University Invitational on Oct. 18.

After participating in the Northeast-10 Championships on Oct. 24, the Owls will then move on to the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Nov. 8 in Boston. SCSU placed sixth at the Northeast-10 Championships last season and finished 11th at last year’s NCAA Regional Championships.

The National Championships are scheduled for Nov. 21.
