NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University senior running back Jarom Freeman (Peekskill, N.Y.) led all rushers on the East squad on Friday night at the Valero Cactus Bowl. The Cactus Bowl, played annually in Kingsville, Texas, features the 'best of the best' NCAA Division II college seniors.

Freeman rushed for 24 yards on seven carries in the contest, a 16-0 win for the West squad.

This year, Freeman collected All-Northeast-10 Conference honors for the third time in his career, including his second First-Team recognition. Despite being hampered by injury for the entire season, he still posted four games with at least 100 yards and closed the year with 708 yards rushing. Freeman ends his career at SCSU ranked seventh on the Northeast-10 career rushing list with 3,360 yards.

In closing the year with a 6-4 mark and a share of the Northeast-10 title, the Owls also registered their ninth straight winning season and 16th straight year with a record at or above .500. The club had also reached the NCAA Playoffs in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
