NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Amanda Thomas (Oakville, Conn.), sophomore Amanda Burden (Orange, Conn.) and junior Jennifer O’Neil (Stratford, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming and diving team have been awarded Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Thomas collected five first place showings in two competitions this past weekend for the Owls. Thomas won the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.51), the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.87) and the 200-yard IM (2:12.25) in a tri-meet sweep at Connecticut College on Sunday afternoon. She also won the 400-yard IM (4:32.96) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.57) against Marist, earning the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Swimming Freshman of the Week accolade.

Burden performed very well this past weekend and was selected the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Swimming Diver of the Week. Burden won the one- and three-meter diving events with scores of 247.70 and 275.10 in a tri-meet sweep at Connecticut College on Sunday afternoon. Burden also posted scores of 231.40 and 218.75 in the three-meter and one-meter events, good enough for second place showings on Saturday against Marist.

Jennifer O'Neil won three events this past weekend in two competitions for the Owls, earning a trip to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll. She won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.15) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.99) in a tri-meet sweep at Connecticut College on Sunday and was triumphant in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.85) against Marist on Saturday afternoon.
