Greg Tuba Collects All-Region Honors From Don Hansen's Football Gazette
1/27/2010 2:30:12 PM
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The honors continue to roll in for Southern Connecticut State University senior offensive lineman Greg Tuba (Monroe, Conn.), who has been named to the All-Region Team by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.
Tuba, the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year, previously also captured Daktronics All-Region laurels. Also a First-Team All-Conference selection and a nominee for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman by the Manheim Touchdown Club, he helped lead an offense that ranked first in the league in red zone efficiency and third down conversions, and second in the NE-10 in scoring offense (34.3 ppg), rushing offense and total offense. Three of the top eight rushers in the Northeast-10 followed the lead of Tuba and his fellow linemen this year.
Tuba was named to the Gazette’s Second-Team All-Region.
In closing the year with a 6-4 mark and a share of the Northeast-10 title, the Owls also registered their ninth straight winning season and 16th straight year with a record at or above .500. The club had also reached the NCAA Playoffs in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
