NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department hosted its annual ‘Girls and Women in Sport’ Day on Saturday with a record-high turnout for the event. Nearly 200 youngsters took part in the festivities, which started with a series of clinics with Owls’ coaches and student-athletes. From there, the participants enjoyed a complimentary lunch, a meet-and-greet and autograph session with SCSU student-athletes, and lastly, admission to the basketball doubleheader against UMass-Lowell. This year’s event was supported by the Community Fund for Women and Girls, Bruegger’s Bakery-Café, Coca-Cola and the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation/Subway Restaurants.
