NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Megan Caporossi (Northford, Conn.) of the softball team and senior Richard Jackson (New Rochelle, N.Y.) of the men’s track and field team have been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for May.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.), a senior on the Southern Connecticut State University women’s cross country team, has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.

The 2009 Northeast-10 Conference individual cross country champion, Brustolon became the first Owl in program history to earn that honor. During the course of the season, she also collected All-Region and All-New England laurels. Brustolon finished third at the NCAA Regionals and fourth at the New England Championships.

A team captain, Brustolon qualified for the NCAA Championships and missed out on All-America honors by less than three seconds.

She is a biology major with a 3.85 cumulative grade point average.
