Men's Track and Field Sweeps Northeast-10 Weekly Accolades

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced Wednesday afternoon that three members of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team earned weekly honors. Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.), Patrick Waszczak (Colchester, Conn.) and Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) all earned Althete of the Week laurels for their performance in day one action at the IC4A Championships this past weekend.
Lumax was named the NE-10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week. His mark of 1:51.38 in the 800 meters was the third fastest time in Southern history and was also a personal-best as he placed third overall in the event after day one. He was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay and had the best time on the team, ?nishing his leg in 47.4 seconds.
Waszczak was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, which marks the fourth consecutive week an Owl has earned the award and fifth in the last six weeks. He finished sixth overall in the pole vault and first among Division II athletes. He cleared a mark of 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches).
Sharpe was selected as Men's Track Freshman of the Week. He was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that ?nished 22nd overall after day one action in a time of 3:17.49.
Lumax will head to the NCAA Division II Championships on March 12 and March 13. Joining him will be Ryan Whitehead and Diwani Augustine.
