Nesrala Highlights Day Two Action At NCAA Division II Swimming Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Miguel Nesrala (Santo Domingo, D.R.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men’s swimming and diving team led the way in day two of the NCAA Division II Swimming Championships on Thursday evening. Nesrala took 16th in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:43.53, earning All-America honorable mention.

Drury remains in first place with 264 points, followed by the University of Incarnate Word (199) and Grand Valley State (162). SCSU is in 24th place with four total points.

Matthew Sorena (Brookfield, Conn.) and Austin Mizzell (Bristol, Conn.) nearly qualified for the finals session in the 400-yard IM. The sophomore duo took 19th and 20th in the event with times of 4:04.98 and 4:05.27 respectively, in the preliminary segment.

The championships continue on Friday, March 12 with day three of competition in Canton, Ohio. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., with the finals session to begin at 6 p.m.
