Hall, Thomas Earn All-America Honors In Day Two of National Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.) and freshman Amanda Thomas (Oakville, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming and diving team each collected All-America accolades for their performances in the 400-IM at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday evening. Drury remains in first place with 343 points, followed by Wayne State (241) and West Chester (155.5). SCSU resides in tenth place with 69 total points.
In the 12th event of the competition, Hall and Thomas added 25 points to the Owls score with two spectacular outings in the 400-IM. Hall finished in fifth place with a time of 4:25.14, while Thomas took eighth with a time of 4:30.21.
Later on in the 400-yard medley relay, Thomas, Hall, Jennifer O’Neil (Stratford, Conn.) and Nicole Huerta (Santo Domingo, D.R.) put together another strong performance. The quartet combined for a time of 3:54.67, taking 15th in the event. The effort was good enough for All-America honorable mention.
The championships continue on Friday, March 12 with day three of competition in Canton, Ohio. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., with the finals session to begin at 6 p.m.
