Owls Place Fourth Against Maryland, Temple and Penn

PHILADELPHIA - In a meet featuring three top-flight Division I programs, the Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics team finished fourth at its quad-meet at Penn on Friday evening. The Owls posted a team score of 189.825. Maryland won the meet with a 194.45, followed by the host Quakers (191.325) and Temple (191.025).
The Owls had two top-10 finishes on the vault. Rebecca Brady (Hampstead, N.H.) was tied for sixth with a 9.65, while Justine Basley (Danielson, Conn.) was tied for 10th with a 9.55.
Sarah Darst (Tampa, Fla.) was sixth on the bars with a mark of 9.725. Basley placed eighth with a 9.7, while Stephanie Kuska (Mohnton, Pa.) placed ninth with a 9.65.
Alanna Laecca (Bethel, Conn.) finished sixth on the beam with a 9.675, while Briana DiPinto (Woburn, Mass.) was 10th with a 9.6.
Samantha Laraway (Watervliet, N.Y.) tied for second on the floor, as she posted a 9.8. Brady closed in eighth with a 9.725.
The Owls return to action on March 20 for a road meet at Towson with Brown.
