CANTON, Ohio - Senior Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.) came up just twelve-hundredths of a second shy of winning a national championship, finishing second in the 500 yard freestyle to pace the day three efforts for the Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming and diving squad at the NCAA Division II Championships. Hall swam the race in a time of 4:53.63, while Ashley St. Andrew of Wayne State edged her out with a time of 4:53.51. The Owls rank in 10th place through three days of competition.

Hall earned All-America honors in that event, as did teammate Emily Sundel (West Hartford, Conn.), who placed 15th with a time of 5:07.49.

Jennifer O’Neil (Stratford, Conn.) ranked 13th in the 100 breaststroke to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. She touched the wall with a time of 1:05.54.

Freshman Amanda Thomas (Seymour, Conn.) finished with Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 200 butterfly, as she was 15th with a time of 2:07.85.

The 800 freestyle relay team of Hall, Sundel, O’Neil and Nicole Huerta (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) came in 20th with a time of 7:53.65.

Also participating on Friday were diver Amanda Burden (Orange, Conn.), who was 16th in the one-meter diving event, and Huerta, who was 37th in the 500 freestyle.
