NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomores Jayme Larson (Aurora, Colo.) and Brittany Hill (Durham, Conn.) pitched very well in the circle for the Owls, but the Southern Connecticut State University softball team dropped a pair of games to Molloy on Saturday afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. The Lions took game one, 2-0, and game two by the final score of 2-1.
With the losses, the Owls dropped to 2-2 on the season.
In game one, Larson had a stellar performance in which she allowed only two runs to the Lions. However, offensively the Owls failed to reach the scoreboard, as Larson collected her first loss of the campaign.
In game two, freshman Alyssa Downs (Seymour, Conn.) drove in a run, but once again Molloy chalked up two runs to defeat the Owls. Seniors Khristle Lee (Aztec, N.M.) and Kerry Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) each collected hits in the losing effort.
Southern returns to action on March 14, when its plays a doubleheader against Philadelphia in Clermont, Fla. First pitch is set for 9:30 a.m.
