Owls Post Season-High Score In Quad Meet Against Temple, Towson and Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics team posted a season-high score of 190.375 in a quad-meet against Division I programs Towson and Temple, along with host Bridgeport, on Friday evening.
In the process, the Owls also set a new program record on the vault. SCSU totaled a score of 47.75, which bested its old mark of 47.475, set last year against Towson, Rutgers, William and Mary and Bridgeport.
Bridgeport won the meet with a score of 194.2. Towson tallied a 193.075 to finish second. Temple placed third with a 190.65 to narrowly edge the Owls.
SCSU had three performers rank in the top 10 on the bars. Justine Basley (Danielson, Conn.) was third with a 9.725. Sarah Darst (Tampa, Fla.) tied for fifth with a 9.7 while Stephanie Kuska (Mohnton, Pa.) tied for ninth with a 9.625.
Basley and Briana DiPinto (Woburn, Mass.) tied for fourth on the beam as they posted scores of 9.675 on that event.
Samantha Laraway (Watervliet, N.Y.) posted a 9.7 on the floor to rank 10th.
The Owls are back in action on March 12 when they travel to Penn for a meet with Maryland and Temple.
