NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University senior Lauren Karn (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team. A two-sport standout in field hockey and lacrosse, this marks the fourth time that Karn has been named to a NE-10 All-Academic Team. She was also tabbed for the Women’s Lacrosse squad in 2008 and earned Field Hockey laurels in 2008 and 2009.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
Karn, who carried a 3.80 cumulative grade point average as a psychology major, started eight games for the Owls in 2010. A defensive-oriented midfielder, she scored three points on the season (two goals, one assist).
Karn also ranked third on the team with 22 groundballs and finished fourth on the club in caused turnovers.
