NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Head Coach Tim Quill of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming and diving team has announced that seniors Jennifer O’Neil (Stratford, Conn.) and Jaclyn Renzoni (Naugatuck, Conn.) will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2010-11 season. The Owls are coming off of a campaign in which they won their seventh consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship and set a program best with a 10-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
O’Neil, a four-time All-America honoree as a junior, claimed individual Northeast-10 titles in the seven different events at the conference championship meet in February. She was also an NCAA qualifier and the Metropolitan Conference Champion in the 200-yard backstroke as a sophomore.
Renzoni has competed in a host of different events for the Owls since her freshman season. She finished among the top nine swimmers in six different competitions at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships last season, capped by a sixth-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Owls will begin the upcoming campaign at Hutchinson Natatorium on Oct. 16 with their annual Alumni Meet. The season’s home slate is highlighted by showdowns with conference foe Saint Rose as well as Yale, The College of New Jersey, C.W. Post, Connecticut College and Queens College. The Hutch will also be the site of the 2010-11 Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Feb. 4-6.
