NEW HAVEN, Conn - Southern Connecticut State University head women’s soccer coach Adam Cohen has announced that senior Lindsay Stanton (Oxford, Conn.) and juniors Michelle Desmarais (South Windsor, Conn.) and Alison Ditolla (Trumbull, Conn.) will serve as team captains for the Owls this year.
“Ali, Lindsay and Michelle were nominated by their teammates and selected, after an interview process, by the coaching staff,” Cohen said. “Ali, Lindsay and Michelle will be outstanding leaders because of their strong character, ability to communicate with both teammates and coaches, as well as their ability to get things done. I have complete confidence that they will represent our program with the highest level of integrity and accountability.”
All three have been recognized as Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll selections for their academic work over the course of their collegiate careers.
Stanton has served as a key contributor to the forward unit in her career, both as a starter and as a reserve. She has appeared in 36 career contests to date and is the lone senior field player on this year’s squad.
Desmarais, a midfielder, has been a factor in the midfield when at full strength during her career. She has taken part in 18 career matches to date.
Ditolla, a midfielder, has started 32 of 36 games for the Owls over the course of the past two years. A defensive-oriented performer, she has also tallied one assist in each of those campaigns.
The Owls open the 2010 season on Sept. 3 with a game against Felician College at Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H.
