NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University men’s and women’s swimming coach Tim Quill has released the team’s 2010-11 schedule. The Owls will host the Northeast-10 Conference Championships – on February 4-6 at Hutchinson Natatorium – once again this season. The women’s squad is seeking its eighth straight conference crown, while the men will look to claim its seventh title in the last eight years. Southern Connecticut combined for 11 All-Americans at last year’s NCAA Championships.
The Owls kick off the season by hosting an Alumni Meet on Oct. 16 at Hutchinson Natatorium.
After the home opener, the Owls will hit the road for the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 22-23. Fellow Northeast-10 Conference Saint Rose then visits the Owls on Oct. 30. The following day, the women’s squad heads up to Central Connecticut for a meet with the Blue Devils.
From there, the teams begin a homestand with visits from Yale (Nov. 5), the College of New Jersey (Nov. 6) and C.W. Post (Nov. 13). The meet with C.W. Post will just include the womens’ squads.
SCSU will also participate in the United States Merchant Marine Academy Invitational on Nov. 20.
The Owls close out the 2010 calendar year by participating in the Bentley Invitational on Dec. 4-5 and the Hutch Classic at the Hutchinson Natatorium on Dec. 11-12.
After opening the 2011 calendar year with a training trip in Florida from January 1-12, the Owls travel to Marist on Jan. 15. The following day, Connecticut College will pay a trip to New Haven to take on the Owls.
SCSU travels to West Chester on Jan. 21-22 before closing out at the month at home on Jan. 25 against Queens.
The month of February features the NE-10 Championships following by the Metropolitan Championships on Feb. 18-20.
