9/2/2010 10:27:19 AM
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team has announced its home promotional schedule for the 2010 season. The Owls will have some type of promotional activity at all 10 home contests this fall, including t-shirt, stadium cup and restaurant gift card giveaways.
Among the highlights include the Owls’ second annual ‘Play 4 The Cure’ event on Oct. 9 against St. Michael‘s. This initiative promotes breast cancer awareness, and the team will wear pink uniforms in support of the cause.
There will also be giveaways courtesy of Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Subway, 1315 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden, at selected games during the course of the season.
The home slate kicks off with the SCSU Tournament on Sept. 4-5. All fans entering the facility for the games against Shippensburg and Mansfield that weekend will receive a schedule card compliments of the SCSU athletic department.
Fans attending the Sept. 10 game against Bentley are asked to bring a non-perishable food or personal care item for the Connecticut Food Bank.
The first 50 fans in attendance at the Sept. 14 game against Franklin Pierce will receive a Blue Crew t-shirt compliments of the SCSU athletic department.
The Owls then hit the road for nearly a month before returning on Oct. 9 for the Play 4 The Cure game against St. Michael’s.
The Oct. 19 game against Assumption features two promotions. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive an Owls’ stadium cup courtesy of the athletic department. In addition, it will also be Faculty Appreciation Day at Jess Dow Field.
The Owls will host a collection for Out To Pasture, a Connecticut-based animal rescue/rehabilitation facility, at the Oct. 23 game against Bentley. All fans are asked to bring an item (examples include: diapers, wipes, Goodnites, Easyups, puppy pads and paper towels) that benefits the organization.
The Oct. 27 match against Adelphi will feature a Give To The Troops collection. All fans are asked to bring in a non-perishable food or personal care item that will be sent to U.S. troops who are currently serving their country.
Fans are challenged to wear their best Halloween costume on Oct. 30 when Merrimack comes to town. Prizes will be awarded to those in the holiday spirit courtesy of the athletic department.
The promotional schedule concludes with Senior Night on Nov. 6, a 2 p.m. match against Stonehill.
