BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Senior Harry Appiah (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored the only goal of the game just 2:32 into play as the Southern Connecticut State University men’s soccer team was able to secure a 1-0 win over Felician in the season opener for both teams on Thursday.

Appiah’s tally came off an assist from fellow classmate Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.).

The Owls held a 14-7 advantage in the shots on goal department, including an 8-3 margin in the opening half.

Southern keeper Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) turned away three shots to record the shutout for the Owls.

SCSU returns to action on Saturday when it takes on Caldwell.
